Terai East proposed as buffer for Pilibhit Tiger Reserve

Three ranges of Terai East have got principally approved by the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) for their inclusion as buffer zone of Pilibhit Tiger Reserve in Utter Pardesh. These three ranges are Khatima, Kilpura and Surai. DVS Khati, principal chief conservator of forests (wildlife) said, “We are quite ecstatic about our three ranges forming the buffer zone of Pilibhit TR.

It will mean better protection for our tigers and forest area as the tiger will be able to move protected from this large contigous corridors. Soon consultation with the villagers living in three ranges will start.”Consultation with villagers concerned is part of the entire process before final declaration of tiger reserve. Surender Mehra, conservator of forest of Western Circle said, “The support of villagers is required in the management of buffer so they are acquainted with the various aspects of buffer zone.
